Welcome!
Hi! I’m Mel, and I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my little family.
I’ve always had a lot of hobbies, but over the years, I’ve discovered a deep love for gardening. That said, I have to admit—I’m terrible at growing vegetables. My cucumbers turn out woody, my peas somehow burn in the sun, and half the time, I plant something in the perfect spot only to have it mysteriously disappear - I watched a bear rip out one of my tomato plants. So last year, I decided to shift my focus to herbs. Unlike my ill-fated veggies, herbs thrive in my garden, growing beautifully and lasting through the seasons. It’s February, and my broadleaf sage is still going strong, even under a blanket of snow.
Last year, I grew way too many herbs—so this year, I’m growing even more and sharing them with others. Herbs have always been a big part of my life, but they became even more important about six years ago when I had to make major dietary changes. While many foods became off-limits, herbs never were. Instead, they opened up a world of flavor, turning simple meals into something special. Over the years, I’ve experimented with different combinations, discovering just how transformative herbs can be.
Beyond their flavor, I love how beautiful and useful herbs are. Instead of cut flowers, I often gift friends bundles of fresh herbs—they smell incredible, last longer, and can be used in cooking, teas, or even natural remedies. It feels more sustainable, more thoughtful, and honestly, just makes sense.
But more than anything, I love the sense of community that comes from growing and sharing herbs. Food, nature, and connection go hand in hand, and I’d love for The Herb Grove to be a space where we can celebrate all of that together. Whether you’re here for fresh bundles, creative ways to use herbs, or just to follow along on this adventure, I’m so happy you’re here!
